Day:3011 What The WOOF! - Nikki

Dear God what is happening???? I jumped in the truck for a ride to town  and it's now 3000+ days later. Where are they taking me??? And why???  They keep talking about being on vacation but it's more like the Spanish Inquisition. They have this high post with a hook at this place they call a campsite and for entertainment purposes they hook a cable up and snap my collar to it!! Held out like a criminal at the stockade. Then after saving them both from a pair of crazed squirrels by chasing them through the campground. Dad picked up a twig and chased me back to the trailer. Like a fool I thought Mom would save me but she is crazy as Dad. She put this electronic device around my neck that makes me tinkle with fright every time it buzzes. They both seemed so normal back home but once they get out of sight of others they're like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. I sincerely believe they have both have gone mad and I will never see my home again. I would tinkle on tree to mark it for someone to come and find me but in their sick state of minds they have brought me to a barren wasteland, a place without a tree in sight..... SIGH!... pray for me, Nikki

Day 9 - Moving Day

We moved to the new site and it is so much nicer than the previous site we had.  We now have electricity hookup and lots of room to move around.  Nikki seems to like it also since there is no tall grass here - just trees and pine needles. Kevin spent his day working on the rear end of the truck, with my assistance when needed.  He got the air suspension system on, in a few days we will see how it works.  If it doesn't work, we may be going to a dealership to look for a heavier duty truck.  Lord I hope this air suspension system works because I love my truck! I cleaned the camper and could not believe how muddy the water was after just wiping everything down.  Got the floors vacuumed and mopped and cleaned the A/C filter.  It's nice being in a clean camper again. Nikki loves this spot - great ball throwing room! We took Nikki to town (Durango) in hopes of finding a place to eat outside with her.  No luck.  So many people wanted to pet ...

Day 15 - Miles of Adventures

Today started out with an outing on back dirt roads to see the Mexican Hat up close and personal.   We were hoping to be able to ride down to the San Juan River, but the descent was very steep with loose sand.   We did get to the back side of the Mexican Hat though. After that on to the Valley of the Gods!   WONDERFUL RIDE!!!   The road through the valley was as perfect as we could ask for for a dirt/sand road.   There was one time when my back wheel got a little squirrely on me in deep sand.   I was to blame because I was riding in Ray Charles mode (swinging head left and right to catch all the sights) and didn’t pay attention to my immediate surroundings.    It was very deep sand!   But I made it and Kevin following made it through with no problems.   Valley of the Gods is beyond words to describe!   I’m so disappointed that my “go pro” camera was not rolling as we drove through the valley.   I thought I’d turned it...

Day 16: Starry Starry Night - Kevin

Day started off at 5am on a trip back to Cortez to have a bed cover installed on the truck. Got back at noon and goofed off for a while and took a nap, Got up before sunset for a photo shoot in the Valley of the Gods. Amazing Milkyway, shot until around midnight until someone came down the road with a flashlight and cut through the desert scrub to get to faster. We loaded up and left before they reached us. I never saw them but it scared Stephanie pretty good. I had a 9mm on my hip and a 380 in my pocket and Steph had a death grip on her 38 for miles down the road. Aside from the spooky person it was a blast. I did randomly scan the area with my flashlight looking for eyeballs, there is a photograph on the office wall of this campground of a big mountain lion in the Valley of the Gods.
